Year 9 Food Recipes

Below are the recipes your son/daughter will create during their Food Technology Rotation in Year 9.  Although the recipes are shown in the order they appear on the Scheme of Work, some alterations to the order in which they are taught may occur.

Stir Fry

Ingredients

100g Noodles

1 Chicken Breast (or 3 -4 thighs)

½ Red Chilli

1 Clove Garlic

½ Tsp Dry Ginger

½ Green or Red Pepper

Bean Sprouts

½ Onion

2 Mushrooms

1 x 10ml spoon oil

1 x 10ml spoon soy sauce

Chicken Curry

Ingredients

1 Chicken Breast

1 Onion

4 Mushrooms

Tin chopped Tomatoes

1 Tbsp Curry Paste

1 Small Carton natural yogurt

Oil

Mincemeat Jalousie

Ingredients

1 pack of puff pastry

1 jar of mincemeat

A little milk for brushing the edges and glazing top

A small amount of caster sugar to sprinkling on top

Icing sugar for dusting

Pizza

Ingredients

Base

1 Pkt Tesco Pizza Base Mix

125ml Hand Hot Water

Toppings

1 Tbsp Tomato Puree

1 Slice Cooked Ham Chopped

1 Tbsp Sweetcorn

50g Grated Cheese

Healthy Apple Cake

Ingredients

100g Self Raising Flour

100g Wholemeal Self Raising Flour

125g Caster Sugar

150g Butter or Margarine

3 Eggs

Tablespoon Milk

1 Cooking Apple (Remove Core -Peeled roughly chopped in small chunks)

25g Sultanas or Raisins

¼ Tsp Cinnamon

Year 8 Food Recipes

½ Pack Tortilla Wraps

½ Pack Pitta Bread

Ham – Chopped

Mushroom & Cheese Risotto

Ingredients

375ml Boiling Water

1 Vegetable Stock Cube

15g Butter

25g Onion, Chopped

25g Mushrooms, Sliced

25g Frozen Peas

100g Rice (Arborio)

25g Grated Cheese

Salt & Pepper

Bread Mix

Ingredients

250g Strong White Flour

1 level Tsp Salt

½ Sachet Dried Yeast

125ml Warm Water

1 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil

Banana Tray Bake

Ingredients

55g Margarine

100g Caster Sugar

100g Self-Raising Flour

30g Wholemeal Self-Raising Flour

1 Egg

1 Tsp Baking Powder

2 Browning medium bananas

Additional ingredients 50g (nuts/dried fruit)

Pasta Pot Sauces

White Sauce

15g Plain Flour

15g Marg

175 mls Milk

Tomato Sauce

1/2 Tin Chopped Tomatoes

Clove Garlic Crushed

½ Onion Chopped

Dessert Spoon Tomato Puree

* Additional Ingredients: 1 Stick Pepperami, 15g Grated Cheese, 1 Spring Onion

FLAKY PASTRY

250g plain flour

2g salt

75g hard block yellow fat

75g lard or other white fat

1 flaky pastry recipe

1 pot jam

1 teaspoon granulated sugar

1 tablespoon milk

 

 

 

SAUSAGE ROLLS

1 flaky pastry recipe

1 packet of sausagemeat

3 tablespoons plain flour

1 tablespoon milk

Year 7 Food Recipes

Below are the recipes your son/daughter will create during their Food Technology Rotation in Year 7.  Although the recipes are shown in the order they appear on the Scheme of Work, some alterations to the order in which they are taught may occur.

Fruit Salad

Ingredients
1 Orange
1 Banana
1 Kiwi Fruit 1 Apple
Red & Green Grapes (Small Bunch)
Orange or Apple Juice
Note: Any fresh fruit can be used for this recipe

Pizza Toast

Ingredients

2 Slices bread (or a bagel, piece French bread sliced in half)

2 x 15 ml spoons tomato pizza sauce

½ Yellow Pepper

1 Spring Onion

1 Mushroom

30g Hard Cheese

½ tsp Mixed Herbs

Note: You can also use cooked sausage, ham or chicken or canned tuna

Fruit Crumble

Ingredients

Crumble Topping

100g Plain Flour

75g Caster Sugar

50g Butter or Margarine

Fruit Filling

X 2 Cooking Apples (Stewed at home with 25g Caster Sugar + 2 Tablespoons Water)

* Alternatively a tin of cooked sliced apple can be used

Flapjack

Ingredients

50g Margarine or Butter

50g Sugar

2 x 15 ml Spoons Golden Syrup

150g Porridge Oats

75g Dried Fruit such as Sultanas or Dried Apricots

Mini Fruit Cakes

Ingredients

100g Self Raising Flour

100g Caster Sugar

100g Soft Margarine

2 Eggs

50g Dried fruit, e.g. Sultanas

12 Paper Cake Cases
